Ontarians support nuclear and prefer CANDU (February 2007 IPOS-REID poll)

• 75% of Ontarians think nuclear should play the same or an increased role in Canada’s energy mix over the next few decades The research program tracks overall support for and attitudes toward nuclear energy in Canada since the February 2005 benchmark.

• Vast majority (86%) of Ontarians prefer CANDU over foreign technology:

-  87% of women

-  85% of men

• The survey was conducted by telephone January 17-28, 2008.
• Support for nuclear power is up nominally in the last two years by +7 points
