OCI Holds Successful AGM at "Tech Town"

The Organization of CANDU Industries held it Annual General Meeting at the “Tech Town Building” at the University of Waterloo on November 29, 2007. The meeting was well attended by the membership and invited guests including students. OCI has held it’s AGM at Waterloo (and at McMaster in 2006) as part of its strategy to encourage graduates into the nuclear program.

The Chairman gave the membership (now standing at 101 members) a summary of all this year’s events which was well received. The Vice Chair reviewed OCI’s business planning document including some examples of planned activities for this coming year. A vote was held to approve new membership fees. A number of members also took a moment to provide useful feedback to the Board of Directors.

Following the business portion of the AGM, the membership and guests were addressed by the environmentalist Brent Bishop, the Executive VP & CEO of OPG Pierre Charlebois, the VP of Commercialization for the Accelerator Center Tom Corr, Director of Commissioning at AECL Gus Farrell, Executive VP for Bruce Power Andrew Johnson and the Director of the North of England Inward Investment Agency Joe Flanagan.

OCI looks forward to the next AGM which will be held on October 22, 2008 at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).
