Bruce Power Announces Deal with OPA

Tiverton, Ontario - Tuesday, October 11, 2005

Bruce Power reached a definitive agreement with OPA

On Oct. 17, 2005, Bruce Power reached a definitive agreement with the Ontario Power Authority and launched a $4.25 billion investment program that will begin with the restart of Bruce A Units 1 and 2. Restarting those units will boost our site’s total output to more than 6,200 MW, making Bruce Power the source of about 25 per cent of Ontario’s electricity on a typical day. Following the restart, our eight units will be able to supply the annual power needs of more than four
million homes.

Under terms of this long-term agreement, we will also refurbish Unit 3 with new fuel channels and steam generators when required and install new steam generators on Unit 4. To read the full terms of the deal, please go to the Bruce Power web site at www.brucepower.com

The combined effect of these projects means Bruce Power will continue to generate clean electricity for Ontario until 2035 and beyond instead of closing our final unit in 2018 as previously planned. Much of the work will be completed by contract workers and we anticipate the project work force will peak at more than 1,500 full-time workers during the
approximately four-year construction period. During this time, there will be a variety of jobs available including skilled trades, schedulers, project management, administrative and control functions. More information on hiring through the various subcontractors will be posted on this site as it becomes available.
